Marja-Leena Elojärven näyttely Tuuli aloittaa ArtSpacen vuoden 2012.

Elojärven näyttely kantaa nimeä ”Tuuli”. Nimi viittaa siihen mitä on ja mitä tapahtuu ympärillämme tuulessa, minkä voiman tunnemme ja minkä vastaanottajina olemme. Aistikanavamme ovat auki joka suuntaan ja muistoja sekä kokemuksia tallentuu jatkuvasti visuaaliseen ja fyysiseen mieleen.

Näyttely koostuu maalauksesta Tuomiokirkko sekä taidegrafiikasta. Taidegrafiikan työt ovat abstrakteja ilmentymiä. Tämän vuotinen ”design capital 2012” tarjoaa hyvät puitteet esittää kookkaan teoksen Helsingin näkyvämmästä rakennuksesta.

ViHa valtasi ArtSpace:n!

ViHa esittäytyy nimettömänä
Untitled (Unsaid) on ViHa-työryhmän ensimmäinen näyttely. Näyttely käsittelee nonverbaalisen kommunikaation tulkintaa kahden mediataideteoksen avulla.

Untitled (Unsaid) asettaa katsojan itsensä teosten keskiöön. Osallistumisen kautta katsoja haastetaan leikittelemään logiikan ja mielikuvituksen vuorovaikutuksella.
Teos Things may vary tähystää variaatioiden kautta tuntemattoman pariskunnan tunneskaaloihin kuin ulkopuolinen tirkistelijä. Loop of love puolestaan antaa katsojalle mahdollisuuden kohdata ikuinen rakkaustarina.

Näyttelyn teokset kyseenalaistavat median ja kulttuurin luoman viitekehyksen, jonka pohjalta olemme tottuneet tarkastelemaan, tulkitsemaan ja muodostamaan mielikuvia toistemme tunteista.

Taiteen keskustoimikunta on tukenut teosten tuotantoa.

ViHa työryhmän muodostavat valokuvataiteilija Hanna Korhonen ja leikkaaja Ville Ohtonen. Työryhmä pyrkii tuottamaan mielenkiintoisia visioita arjen subjekteihin yhdistämällä kahden osaajan taustat ja toimialat. Kylmältä kalskahtavan nimensä vastaisesti ViHa käsittelee vakaviakin aiheita pieni pilke silmäkulmassa.

Pinnallista – Noora Geagea 2.-14.11.2011

ArtSpace showcases a young and upcoming artist Noora Geagea whose career as a photographer has started off very well. She moved from the UK where she studied to Finland where she grew up only a short while ago and has in this time been involved in a multitude of projects! Among many other things Noora was selected to the Billnäs Young Artists exhibition in the summer of 2011 by a jury of acknowledged professionals in visual arts. Noora works with photography and video.

Today Noora opens an exhibition at ArtSpace where she is testing her new method of photography. She has initially painted photographs of which she then has taken photographs. Sounds a bit complicated? Well, come and check them out – awesome pictures – and you can buy one, two or the entire exhibition for your house as we are sure you will love them!

ArtBreak Motel

Visual artist Jessica Guisquet and Mehdi Younes joined forces with art management company ArtShortCut, to launch the “ArtBreak Motel” project in spring of 2009. ArtBreak Motel was a monthly rotating art exhibition, held in the premises of lounge bar Motellet, in central Helsinki.

This exciting project was successfully kicked off with the exhibition of Helsinki based artist Jason Barner-Rasmussen in June, 2009. Since then ArtBreak Motel has exhibited the work of Finnish and foreign artists. In February 2011 ArtBreak Motel exhibitions were concluded at ArtSpace in Kamppi, Helsinki, with a great exhibition by Duncan Butt Juvonen.

Artbreak Motel was a non-profit organization. Our goal was to promote artists and to make art more accessible and available to the general public. We provided artists with an exhibition space free of charge (no fee, no rent, and no commission on sales). All profits went directly to the artists.

Promotional material and beverages for the openings are kindly offered by Miller and Grolsch. The exhibiting artists donated work to the The Artbreak Motel organization’s collection if they felt like supporting the project.

The project enabled exhibitions for 15 artists!
